The campground is very shady and quiet. We enjoyed swimming at the Lodge indoor and outdoor pool. The beach is nice but full of geese poop. Putt putt was fun. The store had quite a selection of goodies. The gift shop and resturant at the Lodge were wonderful. They have quite a few campsites that you could get together for family/friends.
This campground was a nightmare. The campground HOST'S are RUDE! RUDE! If you are looking for a great family place to relax and enjoy yourself this is not the place. I suggest that the hosts retire and soon. They should be in a retirement community not a state park. I have vowed that I would NEVER return to this park and would do what ever it takes to get the word out about the worst camping exerience I have ever had in the 30 plus years that I have been camping. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PARK IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN
This park was wonderful. We stayed for 14 nights over spring break 2005. It was close to everything. We visited the Naval Avaiation Museum in Pensacola. Most of all we just relaxed and enjoyed the great planned activities that the campground had to offer. They had everything from an Easter party for the kids to pancake breakfast, to cards, trips to a local pizza place etc... We can't wait to go back next year.
I really don't think this should be classified as a campground. It was more like a corn field with electric and sewer. It has only 2 things going for it. 1. Easy access from I-65 2. Sarge's Shack resturant. It is within walking distance from the corn field. The pool was caving in. The restrooms were VERY unkept. The check-in area smelled like propane gas so bad I was concerned that it could blow up at any minute. We would not go here again.
